Strawberries anyone?

There is a new video by Luovatone showing off his skills using the MyPaint application and ‘Tone’s Brush Set Version 2‘ on the Nokia N900. The video is sped up, but it is truly jaw dropping watching the drawing of strawberries take shape and the amount of detail that goes into the art.

Emeryth created a gamepad for the Nokia N900.

Here is a novel way of playing games on my Nokia N900. Emeryth of EmerytHacks has created himself a gamepad that connects via the USB port. The gamepad fits on top of the keyboard. It has 8 buttons and a PSP joystick and emulates a USB keyboard. It will work with all games and programs. Take a look at the video and visit his website for photos and more information. It’s genius.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nokia N900.

I was browsing coolsmartphone.com the other day when one particular post caught my eye. It was titled “Nokia N900 shown running ICS” and my heart started to skip a few beats. Had the N900 beaten all the other Smartphones waiting to get ICS on the device?

That’s all folks!

All good things come to an end. I have spent the last week weighing up the pros and cons of continuing myNokiaN900.com website and in the end the decision was simple. There is no way back to the Nokia N900 after experiencing Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 and the super fast, unbelievably thin, incredibly light, gorgeous AMOLED multi-touch screen and Jack-of-all-trades Samsung Galaxy S II. Trust me, it is impossible to go back.

How to save my Nokia N900?

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S II and to be honest it has blown me away with it’s speed, applications and endless possibilities, so much so that I am wondering whether to continue with myNokiaN900.com website if most or all of my time will be spent with my SGS2. For the first time in over 18 months my N900 spent the day switched off at home.

How facebook should be on my Nokia N900?

There have been some great facebook programs over the past 2 years. Kasvopus by Tommi Laukkanen, the guy behind Substanceofcode.com was my current favorite Facebook program. There is also Sociality written by Mohammad Abu-Garbeyyeh, not to mention the Effing N900 Status Updater by Richard Merren, which is not a fully fledged facebook application, but handles status updates extremely well and has a link to a mobile facebook client.

Nokia Sweden changes the rules for N9 Test Pilot.

For the past few weeks I have been rallying friends, family and colleagues to post a comment or recommendation on my Nokia N9 Test Pilot website. The idea is that I pitch the reason why I should be given the chance to test pilot the N9. My pitch is on the top half of the website, which I believe stands me in a good position because I have a popular website, I am a massive fan of Nokia and the N900 (N9 or N950), I regularly blog, tweet and pasionately motivate people why they should go with a Nokia instead of other brands and willing to make the N9 an even more popular phone with my reviews, blogs and tweets.

Stream music video photos to ? with MiniDLNA.

There is a great little app called MiniDLNA by Karl Wintermann that allows me to turn my Nokia N900 into a multimedia hub that can stream music, video and photos to any DLNA supported devices, and these days there are plenty of them around (Video Cameraa, PC, XBOX, PS3, Most new digital LED/LCD TV’s, multimedia boxes, NAS servers etc).

How to install the new portrait hildon-desktop?

Arcean, the guy behind Gnumeric – a spreadsheet application for N900, has created a script that allows my Nokia N900 to work in portrait mode (Yes, portrait mode has always worked if CSSU is installed but with this script the icons on the desktop now spin around when the N900 is turned into portrait mode). It’s not quite a rotating homes screen / view, but it is close.

I need your recommendations added to the comment field of my website http://n9pilot.se/deltagare/mike-bowen# over at Nokia Sweden.

LinkedUp is a LinkedIn app for my Nokia N900.

LinkedUp is a brilliant Linkedin application for my Nokia N900, written in Qt C++ & QML by Anthony Naddeo (Antman8969) of the Maemo / Meego community. It helps me find past and present colleagues quickly by typing in a name of a person or company. I can also view my profile, see who has updated their profiles, display all my first degree connections, see related news articles via Google or read up on a company and then follow their news.

Do you remember where the Nokia N900 began?

I was just reading about this “possible” Nokia Internet Tablet called TabCo and somehow in amongst all the stories and videos was a reference to a great Maemo video. Do you remember this viral video (the ending is awesome if you have the patience to watch through to the end).

PowerFilm USB+AA Solar Charger + Nokia N900.

There is no shame in admitting that my Nokia N900 is the greatest Smartphone on this planet and yet it is flawed in one crucial department… the battery. To be honest, on a day to day basis it is the least of my worries as I have battery chargers everywhere and it’s a way of life now to plug the N900 in when not in use, whether it is at night next to my bed, or on my desk or at the office. I always carry the Nokia DC-11 in case of an emergency, so running out of juice is rarely a problem.

Harmattan icons refresh my Nokia N900.

It was a little over a month ago when Cloud596 rolled out his Symbian Anna icon pack for my Nokia N900 and he has been busy creating a new icon set called Harmattan. Equally impressive, the man is a genius to get this icon set out there so quickly. One can download the latest Harmattan icon pack from the Application Manager or you can download it from here: harmattan-icons-pack_1-1.1.1.-2_all.deb and run it from your file manager. I used Filebox.

An even faster speed patch for your Nokia N900.

I had just finished writing the “How to speed up your Nokia N900 considerably?” post, and there is already a newer (final version of the speed patch) available from Karam and guess what? It’s even quicker. Most noticeable flicking through different screens, or the taskbar and even scrolling in the application menu etc.
