One of the cool features of my Nokia N900 is that it has a cover over the camera lens and flash to protect it from dust and scratches. In order to use the camera I just slide back the cover and voila the camera is ready to shoot photos or video, but what if I wanted to use the two bright LED lights as a flashlight only?

cute Tube is more than a Youtube player.

I like applications that are well written and fun to use on my Nokia N900. cute Tube by Stuart Howarth is one such application. It plays Youtube videos really well. The interface is clean and very effective. When the application starts up it remembers the account you were last logged in as.

BandFan told me Lady Gaga is playing at the O2.

This evening I was browsing the OVI Beta store on my Nokia N900 and stumbled upon a music application that has the potential of being useful. If you are into live music then BandFan is your type of application. It uses the GPS in the N900 along with a ‘live location network’ to find your favorite concerts in your area.

One of the most awesome things about my Nokia N900 is the fact that I can have multiple desktops (up to 7 in this example) and have an unique background for each desktop. There are not many smartphones on the market today that can offer this feature. By default the N900 comes with four desktops that can each be customized to ones liking. Install an application such as MaeModder and suddenly 9 desktops are possible each with their own backgrounds.

I got three twitter applications on my Nokia N900, but TwimGo is by far the best one available for the N900. Tommi Laukkanen’s latest version 2.7.1 and the previous version 2.6.1 are written in QML, Qt Quick and Javascript and offer a lot smoother and finger friendly experience than his previous versions.
