An OSU! game called HITS for my Nokia N900.

According to the FAQ page, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan is a rhythm game for the Nintendo DS. The game play consists of only three elements: tapping circles on the touch-screen, dragging a ball across a fixed path and rotating a spinner very fast. All these elements are timed to (covers of) popular Japanese songs.

Solution for failed Nokia N900 catalogues.

If you are trying to get into the repository catalogs but can’t, it is because there is a known problem. I only found out today much to my frustration. I should have just visited the good folk at talk.maemo.org since they already had a temporary solution in place. In case you have not visited them yet, check out the thread titled [FOR DUMMIES] Add temporary mirrors of repo.maemo.org to N900 by thedead1440. It explains how to get around the problem and offers a whole bunch of mirror sites to the various repository catalogues. I won’t bore you with the details as they are all available on the thread, but if you have being experiencing something similar to the screen shot below then the solution is there.

Neverputt 3D mini-golf on my Nokia N900.

So I have been taking a break from my SGS2 and recently stumbled upon a wonderful 3D game of mini-golf. It is called Neverputt. It was developed by Alberto Mardegan (Mardy). It supports 1 to to 4 players at a time. The idea is simple, get your ball in the hole. It is finger friendly and makes use of the touch screen. The game has many challenges and I am sure if you have played mini golf you will know what I mean. I found a video demo of the game on Mardy’s website.

How facebook should be on my Nokia N900?

There have been some great facebook programs over the past 2 years. Kasvopus by Tommi Laukkanen, the guy behind Substanceofcode.com was my current favorite Facebook program. There is also Sociality written by Mohammad Abu-Garbeyyeh, not to mention the Effing N900 Status Updater by Richard Merren, which is not a fully fledged facebook application, but handles status updates extremely well and has a link to a mobile facebook client.

How to install the new portrait hildon-desktop?

Arcean, the guy behind Gnumeric – a spreadsheet application for N900, has created a script that allows my Nokia N900 to work in portrait mode (Yes, portrait mode has always worked if CSSU is installed but with this script the icons on the desktop now spin around when the N900 is turned into portrait mode). It’s not quite a rotating homes screen / view, but it is close.

Harmattan icons refresh my Nokia N900.

It was a little over a month ago when Cloud596 rolled out his Symbian Anna icon pack for my Nokia N900 and he has been busy creating a new icon set called Harmattan. Equally impressive, the man is a genius to get this icon set out there so quickly. One can download the latest Harmattan icon pack from the Application Manager or you can download it from here: harmattan-icons-pack_1-1.1.1.-2_all.deb and run it from your file manager. I used Filebox.
